WORDLESS WEDNESDAY: Kids Read To Dogs To Improve Reading Skills

One of the Therapy Dog programs Isis and I love participating in is kids reading to dogs, helping kids improve their reading skills.  Here's a pic of Isis sitting so nicely with a sweet little girl during her reading session.

I normally never photograph children in order to protect their privacy, but since you can't see the girls face, I couldn't resist snapping this photo of Isis intently "listening" to the story!

Check out my friend Jenna's recent interview with me about our Therapy Dog work on Love Is Being Owned By A Husky

To learn more about how kids reading out loud to dogs helps improve reading skills, see my post on Why Children Should Read to Dogs.

THIS IS A BLOGPAWS WORDLESS WEDNESDAY BLOG HOP!!

I love this program. Do to transportation issues, not something I can do with the dogs, but they love being read to and I've been using the idea with some family kids that I tutor. It is amazing how the dogs provide the kids with confidence and relaxation while attempting a skill they both find challenging.

It's great that the dogs can help kids you tutor. It really is amazing how the kids do so well w/ the dogs, much better than in a classroom when kids are having those challenges. Thanks for stopping by!

We have some of the 'read to a dog' programs here in our town, too.
And we also have a dog as a 'therapist' called CJ (Comfort & Joy), in a pediatrician's office here as well:))
