Hi, I'm Cathy Armato. Welcome to Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them, a blog for dog owners searching for the best information and tips on Dog Health & Safety, Pet Friendly Travel, and Animal Welfare!  

I’m a lifelong dog owner and passionate animal welfare advocate. For 8 years I volunteered at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control animal shelter in Arizona. As an Adoption Counselor, Dog Foster Mom to 9 shelter dogs, and Community educator for the shelter, I saw the need for dog health and safety information.

I started this blog because I believe proper dog health and safety are of paramount importance to a dog's life. In my years as an animal shelter volunteer, I saw first hand how people struggled to find reliable information and education about dog health and safety. 

I wanted to share information about how to give dogs the best care, and how to keep them safe both at home and outside the home.  

I love sharing tips about dog health & safety, safe travel with dogs, and how rewarding and adventurous life with dogs can be!  

Some of the dog health and safety topics I write about are:

My beautiful dogs Icy, my Siberian Husky, and Phoebe, my Maltese/Havanese mix

I have been fortunate to share my life with Icy, my 15 year old Siberian Husky and Phoebe my 13 year old rescue dog. Sadly, Phoebe passed away in March, 2022 but her unshakeable spirit lives on in my heart and on this blog. I was blessed to have her with me for 10 glorious years, where every day was filled with love, fun and adventure together. I recently added a new fur baby to our family, Jessie, a Silky Hair Terrier mix.

I trained my Husky, Icy, to be a therapy dog.  We were a registered PetPartners Animal Therapy team from 2012 to 2019.  I adopted Phoebe from one of the shelters I volunteered at.  Volunteering at the shelter and working with Icy to help people in need are two of the most rewarding things I've ever done!
